In a show of unity for better child nutrition, National Dairy Authority (NDA) Administrator Atty. Marcus Antonius T. Andaya met with Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso to discuss the upcoming launch of the Private Sector Milk Feeding Program — an initiative connecting local dairy farmers with private companies through milk purchases for their corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.

During the meeting held at the Manila City Hall, Mayor Isko expressed his full support for the project, sharing his personal experience as a former beneficiary of a school feeding program during his childhood. “Programs like this can change lives. Proper nutrition is essential in shaping the mind and body of young Filipinos,” he said, emphasizing the importance of government and private sector cooperation in addressing child malnutrition.

Administrator Andaya explained that the initiative aims to strengthen local dairy production while improving access to fresh, locally produced milk for public school children and communities in need. By encouraging companies to source milk from Filipino farmers, the NDA hopes to boost the country’s dairy industry, which currently imports most of its supply from abroad.

The Private Sector Milk Feeding Program will serve as a model for how social responsibility projects can also empower local agriculture. The NDA plans to link cooperatives and small dairy producers to businesses interested in sustainable, community-based feeding programs.

In recent years, the government has expanded its feeding initiatives through the National Feeding Program under the Department of Education and Department of Social Welfare and Development. The NDA’s involvement adds a vital agricultural dimension — ensuring that while children receive nutritious milk, local dairy farmers also gain new livelihood opportunities.

Mayor Isko’s participation signals strong local government backing for the campaign. His administration has long supported projects that promote nutrition, education, and social welfare, especially for underprivileged children in Manila’s public schools.

Both leaders agreed that the collaboration is not just about feeding children but about creating a sustainable system that benefits families, farmers, and future generations.

As the launch draws near, the NDA encourages private companies and organizations to take part in the program — a step toward a healthier, stronger, and more self-sufficient nation.
