In a bright conference room at the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) national headquarters, coordinators carefully reviewed production reports and delivery schedules. The goal: make sure no child goes without fresh milk in the School-Based Feeding Program.
On February 18, 2026, coordinators from the DA-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) and the DA-National Dairy Authority (DA-NDA) held a milk supply mapping session. The activity, conducted in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), aims to ensure a steady, timely, and sufficient supply of milk for students enrolled in the School-Based Feeding Program–Milk Component.
Milk supply mapping is a critical step in understanding production and distribution capacities across regions. During the session, participants identified areas with high demand, potential supply gaps, and logistical challenges that could affect delivery. By doing so, agencies can coordinate more efficiently with local dairy producers and delivery partners.
The School-Based Feeding Program–Milk Component provides nutritious milk to undernourished children, helping improve health, growth, and learning outcomes. According to the Department of Agriculture, timely milk delivery is essential not only for nutrition but also for sustaining trust and participation in the feeding program.
Officials emphasized collaboration as a key factor in success. Local government units, dairy cooperatives, and school officials must work closely to monitor inventory, adjust distribution schedules, and respond to sudden increases in demand. The mapping exercise also helps identify regions where dairy production can be expanded or strengthened.
“The mapping ensures that milk reaches every child who needs it, regardless of location,” said a DA-PCC coordinator. “Our goal is to leave no child behind in nutrition support.”
The activity reflects the ongoing commitment of DA-PCC and DA-NDA to strengthen the country’s dairy sector while supporting child nutrition programs. By combining accurate data, planning, and coordination, agencies aim to create a sustainable system that benefits both dairy producers and student beneficiaries.
With this initiative, children in participating schools can look forward to consistent milk servings, while local dairy farmers gain stable demand for their products. The program illustrates how effective planning and inter-agency collaboration can improve nutrition, health, and livelihoods at the community level.
