QUEZON CITY – The National Food Authority (NFA) took part in the 1st Annual Information Officers’ Forum on the Philippine Soil Partnership (PSP) – Action Area 2, held on December 10, 2025, at the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) Convention Hall.

The forum brought together information officers from government agencies to strengthen communication on soil health, sustainable agriculture, and national food security. NFA was represented by Carolina B. Manzano (PRO V) and Charlito A. dela Cruz (PRO III), who actively joined workshops and discussions aimed at improving public awareness on farming practices that protect soil and ensure a stable rice supply.

“The health of our soil directly affects our harvests and the country’s food security. Through this forum, we aim to deliver clear and timely information to farmers and stakeholders,” said one NFA official.

The PSP forum focused on sharing strategies to promote responsible soil management, increase agricultural productivity, and encourage sustainable practices among farmers. Participants explored tools for effective communication, public engagement, and collaboration across agencies to ensure that programs reach communities on the ground.

For the NFA, the initiative aligns with its mandate to provide a reliable supply of rice and other grains while supporting farmers in adopting climate-smart and sustainable farming methods. By participating in the forum, the agency strengthens its role as a bridge between government programs and farmers, ensuring that vital information on soil care, crop planning, and resource management reaches those who need it most.

Officials stressed that maintaining healthy soil is crucial not just for better yields but also for long-term resilience against climate change and natural disasters. Through inter-agency cooperation and clear communication, the forum aims to safeguard the nation’s food supply and support farmers in building sustainable livelihoods.
