Morning sunlight warmed the fields of Bacolor, Pampanga, as dairy goat farmers gathered at R.O. Valerio Integrated Farm for a seminar on artificial insemination (AI) on March 16, 2026. The event drew local farmers eager to learn new ways to improve livestock genetics and boost milk production.
National Dairy Authority (NDA) Administrator Atty. Marcus Antonius T. Andaya attended the seminar, highlighting the government’s commitment to advancing dairy goat farming in the region. The seminar was part of ongoing initiatives by R.O. Valerio Integrated Farm, in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) and the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office III, to promote the use of AI and modern breeding technologies for ruminants.
Artificial insemination allows farmers to introduce high-quality genetics into their herds without the need to purchase expensive breeding males. This helps improve milk yield, disease resistance, and overall herd quality, strengthening the local dairy industry.
During the seminar, participants received hands-on training and technical guidance on AI procedures, animal handling, and herd management practices. Farmers expressed enthusiasm for applying these techniques to enhance their dairy goat operations and contribute to sustainable local milk production.
Atty. Andaya commended the efforts of R.O. Valerio Integrated Farm and its partner agencies for supporting small-scale dairy goat farmers. “Their dedication, together with government support, is crucial for increasing milk production and ensuring a steady supply of dairy products for Filipinos,” he said.
The seminar reflects the NDA’s ongoing mission to strengthen the country’s dairy sector by providing farmers with access to modern technology, expert guidance, and collaborative programs that improve productivity and income.
