The hallways of the DA-Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) were quieter on Fridays as the agency adopted a new schedule aimed at modernizing its services. Starting this month, walk-in transactions will no longer be accommodated on Fridays, allowing staff to focus on digital processes while still serving clients efficiently.

This change follows the Office of the President Memorandum Circular No. 114, directing government offices to adopt a four-day on-site workweek. Under the new arrangement, the DA-BAFS will operate in person from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while Fridays are dedicated to online transactions and document processing.

Clients and stakeholders are encouraged to use the agency’s official online platforms for submitting requests, inquiries, and documents on Fridays. The shift aims to improve workflow, reduce crowding in offices, and provide a more efficient service experience for the public.

DA-BAFS officials stressed that the transition will not disrupt service delivery. Instead, it is part of the bureau’s commitment to modernize operations, expand digital access, and ensure that all stakeholders continue to receive timely assistance in agriculture and fisheries matters.

“This new setup allows us to better manage transactions, maintain service quality, and embrace digital tools for faster processing,” a DA-BAFS spokesperson said.

As government agencies nationwide move toward more flexible work arrangements, the DA-BAFS example highlights how digital platforms can complement in-person services. Clients are reminded to plan ahead and use online channels on Fridays to keep projects and applications on track.
