Under the bright lights of the municipal gym in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, hundreds of farmers gathered on September 24, 2025 to celebrate their hard work and vital role in the community during the annual Farmers’ Day Celebration.

With smiles, cheers, and hopeful hearts, local leaders and farmer associations joined hands to recognize the efforts of those who feed the nation. The event, led by the National Dairy Authority (NDA)–Southern Mindanao, focused on strengthening partnerships in agriculture and ensuring continued support for the farming sector.

A Tribute to the Backbone of the Local Economy

In his speech, Mayor Engr. Arthur D. Davin emphasized that agriculture remains one of the strongest pillars of Magsaysay’s economy. He assured attendees that the local government unit (LGU) would continue to provide programs, equipment, and support to improve the lives of farmers and boost food production.

Joining the mayor were Vice Mayor Roni Sarande, Sangguniang Bayan Members, and various department heads including Municipal Agriculturist Helen Carampatana. Their presence showed the local government’s full commitment to uplifting the sector.

Tools, Irrigation, and Support Handed Over

One of the highlights of the celebration was the distribution of farm tools and irrigation equipment to selected farmer groups, such as those from Tapicong, Brgy. Bacungan. These resources aim to help farmers improve crop yields, reduce labor, and ensure a steady water supply for their fields.

Farmer cooperatives and associations also received assistance to help enhance their production systems and strengthen their resilience against climate challenges.

Stronger Together: Government and Private Partners Unite

The LGU expressed deep gratitude to the NDA–Southern Mindanao, Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office XI, Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PHILFIDA), and Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Davao del Sur, as well as private partners who contributed prizes, farm inputs, and other forms of aid to make the celebration more meaningful.

These partnerships highlight a shared commitment to “Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas”, the government’s vision for a strong and self-reliant agricultural sector.

Looking Ahead with Pride and Unity

As music and laughter filled the gym, the celebration became more than just a one-day event—it was a strong reminder of the importance of the Filipino farmer in building a food-secure and prosperous future.

“Mabuhay ang mga magsasakang Kialegnon!” was the proud cry of the day, as the community renewed its support for a stronger and more sustainable farming sector in Magsaysay and beyond.
