Rain-soaked streets and dark skies greeted many bank clients early Monday, forcing changes to usual plans. For some, a simple trip to withdraw cash or pay bills had to be postponed as safety took priority amid worsening weather conditions.

The Development Bank of the Philippines announced that its Catarman and Dolores branches are temporarily closed due to inclement weather. The advisory was issued on Monday, January 5, 2025, as heavy rains and unsafe conditions affected parts of the areas where the branches operate.

DBP said the temporary closure is meant to protect both clients and bank personnel while weather conditions remain unstable. The bank assured the public that it continues to monitor the situation and will announce updates once normal operations can safely resume.

Despite the closures, DBP confirmed that all other branches, Branch Lite Units, and its Financial Center nationwide remain open on the same day. These offices are operating from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to serve clients who may need to complete urgent transactions.

Clients were advised to check the official DBP website for the most updated list of open branches. This helps customers plan their visits better and avoid unnecessary travel, especially during bad weather.

The bank also reminded clients that many services can still be accessed through electronic channels, including automated teller machines and online banking platforms. These options allow customers to manage basic transactions without needing to visit a physical branch, which can be safer during storms and heavy rains.

For those who experience issues such as lost ATM cards or other urgent concerns, DBP said its 24-hour ATM hotlines remain available. These hotlines are open daily and can assist clients with immediate banking concerns, even outside regular branch hours.

DBP also emphasized that it operates under the regulation of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which oversees banking institutions to ensure consumer protection and service reliability. Customers with feedback or complaints may contact DBP’s Customer Experience Management Department during weekdays. They may also reach out to the BSP’s Financial Consumer Protection Department for assistance.

Weather-related disruptions have become more common in recent years, affecting public services, transport, and business operations. Banks and other institutions are increasingly issuing early advisories to help the public adjust plans and stay safe.
