Early Tuesday morning, some bank clients arrived at their usual Development Bank of the Philippines branches only to find the doors closed. The temporary shutdowns were due to local events and weather conditions, prompting DBP to issue an advisory to guide customers nationwide.
On February 3, 2026, the DBP Cabanatuan Branch was temporarily closed in observance of a local holiday in the area. At the same time, DBP Tacloban suspended operations because of inclement weather, as safety conditions in the city affected normal banking activities.
DBP clarified that aside from these two branches, all other DBP branches, Branch Lite Units, and the DBP Financial Center remained open on Tuesday. Operating hours for open branches were from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing clients to complete essential banking transactions despite localized disruptions.
The state-owned bank advised customers to check the official list of open branches before visiting. This is especially important for clients in nearby provinces who may be planning to travel for in-person banking services. Updated branch information is available through DBP’s official online channels.
DBP plays a key role in financing agriculture, infrastructure, and development projects across the country. Many farmers, cooperatives, small businesses, and local government units rely on its services for loans, savings, and cash transactions. Because of this, even short-term branch closures can affect daily operations, particularly in areas where DBP is a primary banking partner.
Weather-related closures, such as in Tacloban, are common during periods of heavy rain and strong winds. Banks often suspend operations to protect both staff and clients, as well as to avoid risks related to flooding, power outages, or transport disruptions. DBP said it continues to monitor local conditions and will announce reopening schedules once it is safe to resume operations.
For customers with concerns or complaints, DBP reminded the public that its Customer Experience Management Department remains available from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The bank also noted that it is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which oversees consumer protection in the banking sector.
Clients who experience urgent ATM-related issues, such as lost cards, can still access DBP’s 24-hour hotline services. These channels ensure that critical concerns are addressed even when some physical branches are temporarily closed.
DBP encouraged clients to stay informed through official updates and to use alternative branches or banking channels when available. By planning ahead and checking advisories, customers can avoid inconvenience and ensure their banking needs are met without delay.
