Farmers, agriculture workers, and rice industry partners are encouraged to join a free online seminar organized by the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) on November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
The virtual event, titled “Scaling Up the Capacities and Deployment of the Rice Seed Information System (RSIS) Towards Operationalization and Sustainability,” aims to strengthen knowledge and skills in using digital tools for rice seed management and distribution across the country.
The seminar will feature Fidela P. Bongat, Head of the Business Development Division at the DA–Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Central Experiment Station, who will lead the discussion on how the RSIS can improve efficiency and transparency in the rice sector.
The Rice Seed Information System (RSIS) is an online platform developed to help track, manage, and analyze data on rice seeds—from production and certification to distribution. It supports the government’s effort to make quality seeds more accessible to farmers and to promote the sustainable use of resources through data-driven decision-making.
According to DA-BAR, the online seminar will guide participants on how to maximize the system’s features and integrate them into their existing seed programs. This initiative is part of the government’s continuing push for digital transformation in agriculture, helping farmers and agencies use technology to increase productivity and income.
The event will be streamed live via StreamYard and DA-BAR’s official Facebook page, ensuring open access to farmers, local government officers, and agriculture students nationwide. Interested participants are encouraged to register online through this link: https://forms.gle/2znRYcNDj1WsBU7BA.
For more details or inquiries, the public may send a message to the bureau’s official Facebook page.
This seminar is part of DA-BAR’s continuing mission to enhance research, innovation, and knowledge sharing in the agriculture sector—empowering Filipino farmers to embrace modern solutions for a more productive and sustainable future.
