As strong winds from Tropical Cyclone Uwan continue to move closer to the Philippines, government weather agency PAGASA has issued a storm surge warning for several provinces in the Bicol Region and Southern Luzon. The warning was released at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025.

Residents in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Quezon Province are now facing a high risk of life-threatening storm surges that may occur within the next 48 hours. According to PAGASA, sea levels in some areas could rise to over three meters, high enough to cause severe flooding in low-lying coastal communities.

Other areas, including Albay, Sorsogon, and parts of Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Quezon, may also experience storm surges ranging from 2.1 to 3 meters. These conditions, combined with strong winds and large waves, could lead to coastal inundation and dangerous sea travel.

Authorities have strongly advised the public to take precautionary measures. Residents living near the coast are urged to move to higher ground or evacuate to designated shelters. PAGASA also reminded the public to avoid beaches and cancel all fishing or marine activities while the warning is in effect.

Local disaster risk reduction and management offices (DRRMOs) have been instructed to stay alert and closely monitor updates from PAGASA. The next storm surge bulletin is expected to be issued at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8.

The warning comes as Tropical Cyclone Uwan continues to bring strong winds and heavy rains across parts of Luzon. PAGASA said that the combination of onshore winds, high tides, and rough seas increases the risk of flooding, especially in coastal towns and fishing villages.

Residents are urged to stay tuned to official government channels for weather updates and evacuation advisories. Authorities emphasized that timely evacuation and strict compliance with safety measures can save lives.
