PCC offers GMP, SSOP, and FDA-LTO refresher for food producers in Nueva Ecija

Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija — With food safety becoming a growing concern for both consumers and producers, the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) is inviting stakeholders to a refresher training course focused on ensuring safe and hygienic food production.

Scheduled for October 14, 2025, the one-day training aims to strengthen knowledge and practical skills in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and regulatory compliance with the Food and Drug Administration’s License to Operate (FDA-LTO).

Helping agri-entrepreneurs meet food safety standards

Held at the Mini Theater of the PCC National Headquarters and Gene Pool in the Science City of Muñoz, the event is open to 50 participants only, on a first-come, first-served basis. It targets local food processors, dairy producers, small agribusinesses, and cooperatives looking to meet national food safety standards and maintain regulatory compliance.

Participants will be provided with training materials and lunch, but must shoulder their own lodging if needed.

Organizers emphasize that only those in good health and free from any illness will be allowed to join, in line with the center’s health and safety protocols.

What the training covers

This refresher course is designed to:

  • Reinforce the principles of GMP, which ensure that food is produced in a clean and controlled environment

  • Improve understanding of SSOP, which outlines specific cleaning and sanitation procedures in food facilities

  • Guide participants through the steps in securing and maintaining an FDA-LTO, a requirement for businesses that manufacture, distribute, or sell food products

Experts from the DA-PCC and the regulatory sector will lead the sessions, using real-life examples and practical tips tailored to the needs of small to medium-scale producers.

This initiative forms part of the PCC’s wider effort to help local agri-based businesses professionalize operations and compete more effectively in both domestic and international markets.

Supporting safe and sustainable agribusiness

As more Filipinos demand safer, cleaner, and properly regulated food, trainings like this are crucial in bridging the gap between producers and food safety requirements.

Participants will not only gain updated technical knowledge but also become more confident in handling audits, inspections, and regulatory applications.

Those interested in joining can contact the organizers at 0997 480 9678 for more details. Confirmation messages will be sent to those who successfully secure a slot.

DA-PCC encourages all eligible food handlers, processors, and business owners in the region to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, improve, and grow.
