The sound of young voices filled a function hall in Mandaluyong City as students, workers, and youth volunteers gathered with one shared purpose—to help end violence against women. For many of them, the forum was not just an event, but a reminder that their generation plays a crucial role in shaping a safer and more equal society.

Youth employees from the Department of Agriculture–National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA–NFRDI) joined young leaders from different sectors during the “#VAWfreePH? Youth Got This!” Forum held on November 25, 2025, at SM Megamall. The gathering also served as the official launch of the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.

Organizers said the campaign aims to strengthen nationwide support for women’s rights, encourage young people to take an active role in advocacy, and build stronger cooperation between government agencies, private institutions, and community groups.

During the forum, participants talked about different forms of violence affecting women and girls—from harassment and discrimination to domestic abuse. Speakers emphasized that many cases go unreported because victims fear stigma, lack support, or do not know where to seek help. By involving the youth, the campaign hopes to improve awareness, strengthen empathy, and promote early intervention.

Panel discussions also highlighted how digital platforms can be used to push positive change. Young participants shared how their creativity, online skills, and social responsibility help shape public conversations, fight misinformation, and promote gender equality. They encouraged peers to use social media responsibly, uplift victims’ voices, and call out harmful behavior both online and offline.

DA–NFRDI youth delegates said they joined the event to understand better how violence affects women in different communities and how they, as government workers, can support efforts to prevent abuse. They also noted that fisheries and rural sectors are not exempt from gender issues, making awareness vital in every field.

The 18-Day Campaign to End VAW runs yearly from November 25 to December 12. It calls on Filipinos to stand against all forms of violence, support survivors, and help create safe spaces in schools, workplaces, homes, and public areas.

As the country moves toward a more inclusive future, organizers and youth advocates remind everyone that ending violence is a shared responsibility. They urge communities to stay informed, speak up when needed, and support efforts that protect the rights and dignity of women and girls.
