The dark skies and strong winds in Batanes are a reminder that Tropical Depression Salome is approaching. As heavy rains threaten flooding and landslides, families and fishermen in affected areas brace for impact.

According to the latest 2 p.m. advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA), Tropical Depression Salome’s center is now about 255 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
