Parañaque City – In a moment of pride for the tobacco sector, the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) was recognized as one of the top-performing Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) in the 2024 Performance Evaluation Scorecard by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG).
The award ceremony, held on December 1 at the Mahogany Grand Ballroom of Sequoia Hotel, brought together leaders and staff of various government agencies. For NTA, the recognition reflects years of commitment to improving tobacco production, supporting farmers, and delivering efficient services to stakeholders nationwide.
NTA Administrator and CEO Belinda S. Sanchez received the award, joined by key officials including Deputy Administrator for Support Services Benedicto M. Savellano, Regulations Department Manager Atty. Rohbert A. Ambros, CPD Division Chief III Neyo Valdez, and PRO V Freddie G. Lazaro. Their presence highlighted the collective effort of the agency in meeting its performance targets.
The GCG Performance Evaluation Scorecard assesses GOCCs on criteria such as governance, financial performance, operational efficiency, and service delivery. NTA’s high rating demonstrates its success in implementing programs that benefit tobacco farmers, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and ensure the industry’s sustainable growth.
For many of the staff and officers, the award is a tangible recognition of hard work, teamwork, and dedication to public service. “This achievement belongs to every member of the NTA family and to the tobacco farmers whose welfare we serve,” Sanchez said during the ceremony.
The agency continues to prioritize programs that provide training, financial support, and market opportunities for tobacco farmers across the country. By maintaining strong performance standards, NTA aims to sustain its role as a key partner in the agricultural sector and a model GOCC in governance and accountability.
As the NTA celebrates this recognition, it also reaffirms its commitment to transparency, innovation, and service excellence, ensuring that both farmers and the public benefit from its programs and initiatives.
