At the heart of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), a renewed commitment to quality and service excellence shines brighter than ever. On October 13, 2025, during the opening of the 32nd Meat Safety Consciousness Week and the agency’s 53rd anniversary, NMIS proudly received its ISO PNS 9001:2015 certification and the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Bronze Award.

The ISO certification came after a thorough Stage 2 Recertification Audit Surveillance from August 27 to September 1, 2025. Conducted by W3 Solutionz Training & Assessment Center and formally awarded through Ms. Princess G. Ramos, this certification confirms NMIS’s compliance with international standards in quality management systems. It highlights the agency’s continuous effort to maintain high standards in meat inspection and food safety across the Philippines.

In addition to this achievement, the Civil Service Commission recognized NMIS with the Bronze Award for reaching Maturity Level II in four key Human Resource systems. These include Recruitment, Selection, and Placement; Performance Management; Learning and Development; and Rewards and Recognition. Director Cherry C. Berris of CSC presented the award, acknowledging NMIS’s progress under the enhanced PRIME-HRM framework—a government initiative designed to improve human resource management in public institutions.

Earlier in 2025, NMIS was also recognized for attaining Maturity Level II under PRIME-HRM, marking its dedication to better human resource policies and practices. These accomplishments reflect the agency’s goal to provide reliable meat safety services while fostering a professional and motivated workforce.

The celebration during Meat Safety Consciousness Week and NMIS’s anniversary served as a proud moment for the agency, staff, and stakeholders. It underscores the vital role NMIS plays in ensuring that meat products in the country meet safety standards, protecting the health of Filipino consumers.

As the demand for safe, quality meat continues to grow, NMIS’s certifications and awards reassure the public that government efforts remain focused on upholding food safety and service excellence. This milestone also inspires other agencies to follow suit in improving quality management and human resource systems for better public service delivery.
