These everyday scenes now take center stage as the Department of Agriculture–National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA-NFRDI) invites photographers to help tell the story of fisheries science in action.
As part of its seventh anniversary celebration, DA-NFRDI has launched a nationwide photo contest that highlights the role of science, innovation, and research in sustaining Philippine fisheries. The anniversary carries the theme “Seven Years Strong: Advancing Fisheries R&D for Every Filipino,” underscoring the agency’s work to support food security, livelihoods, and responsible resource management.
The photo contest is open to photographers who can capture how fisheries research and development shape lives and communities. Organizers said entries should show how science-based management helps protect aquatic resources, supports fisherfolk, and ensures that future generations can still rely on the country’s seas, rivers, and lakes.
Since its establishment, NFRDI has served as the research arm of the DA for fisheries.
