As dawn breaks over Metro Manila, early risers lace up their shoes—not just to stay fit, but to support a cause that impacts every Filipino household: food safety. In a creative push for awareness, the National Dairy Authority (NDA) is inviting the public to join its Food Safety Awareness Week 5KM Virtual Run 2025, happening from October 25 to 31.

This free event combines healthy living with education, urging participants to run or walk five kilometers at their own pace, from anywhere in Metro Manila. The campaign hopes to raise awareness about the importance of clean, safe, and nutritious food while encouraging an active lifestyle among Filipinos.

“Food safety affects everyone. Whether you’re a parent preparing breakfast, a vendor selling dairy, or a student buying snacks, the choices we make matter,” the NDA stated. The virtual run is part of its nationwide effort to reach more people through engaging, digital-friendly activities.

Who can join?

Anyone based in the National Capital Region (NCR) who has access to a GPS tracking app—like Strava, Nike Run Club, or Adidas Running—can join the run. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just starting out, the NDA encourages all fitness levels to participate.

This initiative is part of the government’s larger effort to educate the public on food handling, cleanliness in the supply chain, and the safe consumption of products—especially dairy and other perishables.

Let’s keep running toward a healthier and safer Philippines, one step at a time.
