From the frontlines of disaster response to the quiet desks of municipal halls, thousands of government workers carry out their duties every day—often unnoticed, yet essential to the nation’s progress.
This September 2025, the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) joins the entire country in celebrating the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA), a nationwide observance that pays tribute to the dedication and service of public servants across the country.
The celebration is held in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, issued in 1997, which directs all government agencies and offices to participate in activities organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for the annual Civil Service Month.
This year’s theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing para sa Bayan,” highlights the important role of civil servants in building a better and more inclusive Philippines. It recognizes their sacrifices and tireless efforts in delivering public services with integrity, excellence, and heart.
The 125th anniversary is a milestone moment for the Philippine civil service, which has stood as a pillar of governance and community support for over a century. It also serves as a reminder that behind every government program—from social welfare and agriculture to health and education—are individuals working quietly and consistently for the public good.
According to the CSC, the celebration aims to inspire greater appreciation for government workers while encouraging reforms to promote efficiency, transparency, and accountability in public service.
Throughout the month of September, national and local government offices are expected to hold various activities such as recognition ceremonies, community outreach, wellness programs, capacity-building workshops, and values formation seminars. These initiatives not only celebrate the workforce but also strengthen their commitment to the principles of good governance.
At the NTA, officials have called on employees to actively take part in the celebration, stressing the importance of unity and professionalism in meeting the agency’s goals. As part of its observance, the NTA will conduct employee engagement activities that honor the hard work of its staff and promote the values of “Serbisyong Totoo, Serbisyong Makatao.”
The Civil Service Commission also encourages the public to support and promote the PCSA by using the official hashtag #PCSA2025 across social media platforms to help raise awareness and show appreciation for government workers.
As the nation continues its journey toward a Bagong Pilipinas, the commitment and contributions of the civil service remain vital. Their work may often go unrecognized, but the impact of every honest, hardworking government employee is deeply felt in the lives of ordinary Filipinos.
