Under the bright morning sun of Patin-ay, Prosperidad, farmers gathered to learn how to protect their crops while using new technology. On October 15, 2025, the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) Caraga Region held an Information Caravan to teach farmers about the safe and careful use of fertilizers and pesticides, especially when applied by drones.
Led by FPA Caraga Regional Officer Noel Negre, the event aimed to spread knowledge on how to apply fertilizers and pesticides correctly. The focus was also on introducing drone technology, which can help farmers cover larger fields faster and reduce manual labor, making farming easier and more efficient.
Around 412 participants attended the demonstration, where they saw firsthand how drones work in farming. These machines can spray fertilizers and pesticides more precisely, helping to protect crops while minimizing harm to the environment.
The activity was a joint effort involving 14 local government units in Agusan del Sur, the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office, the Department of Agriculture Region 13, the Philippine Coconut Authority, and several private companies. This cooperation highlights the importance of combining government support and private sector innovation to help farmers.
FPA’s campaign supports farmers in using agricultural inputs responsibly to boost production and safeguard their health and the environment. It also aligns with the government’s push for modern, sustainable farming methods that increase yield without risking soil and water safety.
By educating farmers about safe chemical use and new tools like drones, FPA hopes to build stronger, more productive farming communities in Caraga. Farmers can protect their livelihoods better while contributing to a more sustainable future for Philippine agriculture.
