QUEZON CITY — Corn farmers across the Philippines are being encouraged to take part in a free online seminar that will teach them how to use digital tools to improve crop management and yields.
The seminar, titled “From Field-level Data to Smarter Decisions: The iFARM System for Corn in Action,” is scheduled for March 19, 2026. It will introduce participants to the iFARM platform, a digital farm management system developed under the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) Corn R&D Program. The platform helps farmers collect, analyze, and act on field-level data, enabling smarter decisions on planting, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management.
Through iFARM, smallholder farmers can track the performance of their corn fields in real time, compare results with best practices, and access recommendations tailored to local conditions. Officials say this technology aims to make farming more efficient, reduce losses, and ultimately increase farm income while supporting the country’s goal of sustainable corn production.
DA-BAR encourages corn growers, farm technicians, and cooperative leaders to register online to join the seminar. Participants will also learn how to integrate iFARM with existing farm practices and access expert guidance to optimize their operations.
This initiative reflects the government’s push to modernize agriculture in the Philippines by combining traditional farming knowledge with smart technologies. With growing challenges like climate variability and rising input costs, tools like iFARM can help farmers make informed decisions that boost productivity and resilience.
