The howling wind and heavy rain woke up many Metro Manila residents early Monday as Super Typhoon Uwan continued to lash the region. To ensure the safety of government employees, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced a work suspension in all its offices and line bureaus across the capital.

In Memorandum Circular No. 106, the DENR ordered that all work in Metro Manila offices be suspended today, November 10, 2025, due to the strong winds and flooding caused by Typhoon Uwan. The department reminded employees and the public to stay indoors and monitor official advisories from the government.

Super Typhoon Uwan, locally known as #UwanPH, is currently bringing torrential rain and powerful winds to parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila. The weather disturbance has disrupted transportation, power supply, and communication lines in several areas, prompting both public and private institutions to temporarily halt operations.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over parts of Northern and Central Luzon, with Signal No. 3 in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Authorities warned of possible flash floods, landslides, and storm surges, especially in low-lying coastal communities.

The DENR emphasized that the safety of personnel remains its top priority. “We urge everyone to remain alert and follow instructions from local authorities,” the agency said in a statement. It also advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to prepare emergency kits in case of prolonged power interruptions or flooding.

As the country continues to face stronger and more frequent typhoons due to climate change, the DENR reiterated the importance of disaster preparedness and sustainable urban planning. The agency said that protecting the environment—such as by maintaining clean waterways and preserving forests—helps reduce the impact of severe weather events like Typhoon Uwan.

Government agencies, local governments, and rescue teams remain on full alert to respond to emergencies and assist affected families. Citizens are urged to follow updates from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), PAGASA, and other official channels.

Stay safe, stay informed, and cooperate with local authorities during this severe weather.
