Whether you’re raising goats in the backyard or managing a poultry business, knowing the right standards can make a big difference in food safety and income. This October, Filipino livestock and poultry professionals have the chance to learn straight from the experts — for free.

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA-BAFS) is inviting professionals to join its upcoming webinar titled “From Hatch to Harvest: A Webinar on Livestock and Poultry Standards” happening on October 8–9, 2025 at 1:30 PM via Google Meet.

The webinar will focus on the Philippine National Standards (PNS) for goats and shell eggs, highlighting how these regulations help ensure the safety, quality, and market competitiveness of animal products.

Registration opens on October 2, 2025, and slots are limited.

CPD-Accredited Webinar for Licensed Professionals

This online event is open to a total of 240 licensed professionals, who will also earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units:

  • 80 Licensed Agriculturists – 3.0 CPD units

  • 80 Licensed Veterinarians – 1.0 CPD unit

  • 80 Licensed Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers – 5.0 CPD units

The DA-BAFS webinar is officially CPD-accredited in compliance with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Resolution No. 1948, Series of 2025, which outlines the proper conduct of CPD programs.

Note: CPD programs under this rule must be conducted exclusively through formal online platforms like Google Meet and are not allowed to be delivered via Facebook or similar social media apps.

What to Expect from the Webinar

Participants will learn:

  • The basic requirements of the PNS for goats and shell eggs

  • How to maintain product quality and hygiene from farm to market

  • Why standards matter in preventing food-borne diseases

  • The role of national regulations in boosting consumer confidence and export potential

Through expert talks and case studies, the webinar aims to support livestock and poultry producers, especially in rural communities, in aligning their practices with national food safety goals.

Why This Matters

Goats and eggs are common sources of protein in many Filipino households. However, without proper handling, they can also become sources of health risks. The PNS aims to guide producers in meeting basic hygiene and handling standards — not just for compliance, but to ensure safe, affordable, and high-quality food for all Filipinos.

This effort is part of the Department of Agriculture’s ongoing commitment to improve local food systems, empower agri-professionals, and build a Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas.

How to Join

Interested professionals are advised to:

  • Mark their calendars for the registration opening on October 2

  • Prepare PRC details for verification

  • Secure a stable internet connection for the two-day session

The event is free of charge but slots are limited, and early registration is encouraged.

Don’t miss this opportunity to upgrade your knowledge, earn CPD units, and contribute to safer and stronger local food systems.
