Bright morning sunlight filled the Quezon City conference hall as agricultural leaders gathered to reflect on a year of hard work and progress. On the first day of the FY 2025 Year-end Joint Performance Review and Planning Workshop, the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF), together with the National Steering Committee (NSC) and Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs), assessed their accomplishments and planned next steps for a more productive agriculture sector.
The workshop highlighted key milestones of the year, showcasing how consultative bodies under PCAF have supported farmers and fishers across the country. Through structured planning and evaluation, participants identified successes in program implementation, capacity building, and community engagement. The review also provided an opportunity to discuss strategies to improve agricultural productivity and ensure that local farmers benefit from government programs.
“The performance review allows us to look back at what worked and where we can improve,” said a PCAF official. “It is essential to ensure that our initiatives continue to reach the people who need them most and contribute to a stronger, more resilient agriculture sector.”
The event brought together representatives from different regions, enabling the exchange of ideas, best practices, and innovative approaches to challenges faced by farmers and fisherfolk. PCAF emphasized the importance of participatory planning, where local councils play a key role in shaping programs that address regional needs while contributing to national goals.
The workshop also included discussions on program monitoring, resource allocation, and upcoming projects for 2026. By combining performance evaluation with forward planning, PCAF aims to strengthen agricultural governance and support sustainable growth in farming and fisheries.
As the day ended, participants expressed optimism about the future of Philippine agriculture. By reviewing achievements and planning strategically, PCAF and its partner councils hope to enhance farm productivity, improve livelihoods, and drive inclusive economic growth for the country.
