Amid the buzz of proud Filipino products and small businesses showcasing their best, a glass of fresh local milk stood out—not just as a drink, but as a symbol of Filipino livelihood and self-sufficiency.
The National Dairy Authority (NDA) took part in the Philippine Made, Proudly Mine Expo held at Club Filipino on October 18, 2025. The event, organized by the Balikatan sa Kaunlaran (BSK) National Foundation, aims to support and spotlight Filipino-made goods and services.
Founded 48 years ago, BSK is known for empowering local communities and micro-entrepreneurs, especially women-led businesses in rural areas. This year’s expo carried a strong message: “Buy Local, Support Filipino.”
Showcasing Filipino dairy farmers
As part of its ongoing advocacy, the NDA joined the expo to emphasize the value of local milk production. By highlighting milk sourced from Filipino farmers, the NDA promotes better nutrition, while supporting rural livelihoods and sustainable agriculture.
According to NDA officials, every bottle of locally produced milk represents the hard work of dairy farmers from across the country—many of whom are part of small cooperatives in provinces like Bukidnon, Batangas, and Nueva Ecija.
“Filipino milk is more than just nutritious—it’s a product of Filipino perseverance,” said an NDA representative during the expo. “Every purchase directly supports our local farmers and their families.”
Support for local industries growing stronger
The expo featured products ranging from processed foods and handwoven textiles to eco-friendly crafts and health supplements. The event welcomed entrepreneurs, farmers, cooperatives, and government partners committed to promoting local economic growth.
For NDA, the event was not just about promotion but also education. Attendees, including students and local officials, were given materials about the benefits of fresh milk, the importance of dairy in child nutrition, and the agency’s programs for farmers.
Latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority shows that the local dairy industry contributes only around 1% of the country’s total dairy demand, with most products still being imported. This is why events like this are seen as crucial in boosting domestic production and increasing public awareness.
Pushing for inclusive, national progress
Organizers said the “Philippine Made, Proudly Mine” campaign is about building a mindset of national pride and unity through everyday choices—like buying local milk instead of imported brands.
BSK President and expo organizer emphasized that supporting Filipino products is a step toward inclusive development, where even small farmers and entrepreneurs benefit from national growth.
The NDA’s participation reinforces this message: that with each glass of locally produced milk, Filipinos are investing in healthier futures and stronger communities.
