On the first day of the annual campaign, employees of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) gathered in their offices wearing orange—the color symbolizing hope and a future free from violence. Their unified stand echoed the voices of thousands of women and advocates across the country calling for safety, dignity, and equal rights.
The FPA has joined the national observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, an initiative led by the Philippine Commission on Women. Running from November 25 to December 12, the campaign calls on the public to speak up, protect survivors, and challenge harmful behaviors that continue to put women at risk.
In line with the whole-of-nation approach promoted by the government, the FPA pledged its full support by mobilizing its workforce and using its platforms to raise awareness. The agency will release online information materials throughout the 18 days, highlighting laws, support services, and concrete steps that Filipinos can take to help prevent abuse at home, at work, and in the community.
Violence against women remains a serious concern in the Philippines. Many cases go unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of access to help. Government agencies have been strengthening their campaigns by promoting the Safe Spaces Act, Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, and other protective measures.
The FPA said it hopes that this year’s effort will empower more individuals—especially women in rural and agricultural communities—to seek assistance and understand their rights. The agency also emphasized that preventing violence requires not just laws but collective responsibility, starting with creating safer workplaces and communities.
As the campaign continues, the FPA encourages the public to stay informed, support survivors, and help build a culture where respect and equality are the norm rather than the exception.
