As Holy Week approaches, many government employees begin preparing to travel home or spend time with their families. On April 1, 2026, adjustments in work arrangements aim to give them enough time to do just that.
The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) announced that it will implement a half-day Work-from-Home (WFH) setup from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. This follows Memorandum Circular No. 116 issued by the Office of the President, directing government agencies to adopt flexible work arrangements ahead of the Holy Week holidays.
The move is part of a broader effort to ease travel congestion and allow government workers to prepare early for the long religious break. Holy Week is one of the most observed periods in the Philippines, with many Filipinos traveling to their home provinces or taking part in religious activities.
Under the directive, government offices, including attached agencies like the FPA, are expected to maintain continuity of essential services while adjusting their work schedules. Employees will continue to perform their duties remotely during the morning hours, ensuring that public services remain available despite the shortened workday.
The FPA plays a key role in regulating fertilizers and pesticides in the country, helping ensure that agricultural inputs used by farmers are safe, effective, and properly managed. Even with the temporary shift to remote work, the agency assured that its operations will remain uninterrupted, particularly in services that support the agriculture sector.
Memorandum Circular No. 116 applies to national government agencies and encourages the adoption of alternative work arrangements to balance productivity and employee welfare. By allowing early preparation time, authorities hope to reduce last-minute travel rush, which often leads to heavy traffic in major highways and transport hubs.
