Cheers filled the hall as employees clapped, smiled, and proudly waved their banners. It was a moment of joy and unity as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) stood tall among its peers during the DENR Inter-Bureau Sportsfest 2025 awarding ceremony in Quezon City.
Held on December 15 at the DENR Multi-Purpose Hall, the event was part of the DENR Year-End Employees’ General Assembly. It brought together officials and staff from different DENR offices nationwide to celebrate teamwork, wellness, and shared achievements beyond daily office work.
DENR-NCR was recognized as the overall first runner-up, a strong showing that highlighted the region’s commitment not only to public service but also to employee development and camaraderie. The NCR team delivered an impressive performance across multiple sports categories, earning top awards against other DENR bureaus.
The region emerged as champion in Bowling and Chess under the Rapid Category, showing focus, strategy, and discipline. These victories were key contributors to DENR-NCR’s high overall ranking in the competition.
In other events, DENR-NCR secured first runner-up honors in Table Tennis for both men’s and women’s divisions, as well as in Chess under the Classical Category. The teams also placed second runner-up in Basketball, one of the most competitive events in the sportsfest.
Additional podium finishes came from Badminton and Volleyball, where DENR-NCR placed third runner-up in both men’s and women’s categories. These results reflected consistent performance across team and individual sports, highlighting the depth of talent among the region’s employees.
Officials and participants credited the success to teamwork, discipline, and the strong support system within DENR-NCR. Many athletes balanced their training with regular office duties, proving that dedication to health and sports can go hand in hand with public service.
The DENR Inter-Bureau Sportsfest is held annually to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and unity among employees. It also serves as a reminder that a healthy workforce is essential to delivering effective environmental protection, natural resource management, and sustainable development programs across the country.
For DENR-NCR, the awards symbolized more than medals and trophies. They reflected the values of cooperation and perseverance that the agency brings to its work in protecting urban ecosystems, managing waste, and supporting climate-resilient cities.
As the year-end gathering concluded, DENR-NCR leaders extended their congratulations to all athletes and support staff who represented the region. Their achievements stood as proof that when people work together—on the field or in the office—success follows.
The celebration ended with renewed energy and inspiration, as DENR employees looked forward to another year of service, unity, and shared victories.
