Farmers and agri-entrepreneurs invited to learn how to start and accredit plant nurseries this October

For many Filipinos who dream of starting a farm or growing a small agri-business, building a plant nursery can be the first step. To help more people take that step, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) is offering a free face-to-face seminar on how to properly establish and accredit a plant nursery.

The training will be held on October 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Crop Research and Production Support Division (CRPSD), Mushroom Training Room, located at San Andres Street, Malate, Manila.

This whole-day seminar is open to farmers, farm workers, aspiring agri-entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in plant propagation and nursery operations. Attendees will gain practical knowledge on how to set up a compliant, productive, and sustainable nursery that meets national standards.

Experts from the DA-BPI will teach participants the step-by-step process of nursery establishment—from choosing the right site and planting materials to nursery management techniques, pest control, and government accreditation requirements.

The plant nursery accreditation process will also be discussed in detail, helping future operators understand how to legally operate, sell, and distribute high-quality seedlings and planting materials across the country.

Nurseries play a vital role in agriculture by producing healthy seedlings for crops, fruits, trees, and ornamental plants. These are important not just for commercial farming, but also for reforestation, urban gardening, and food security efforts nationwide.

By attending the seminar, participants will also learn how to align their practices with the government’s goal of building a Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas—a more productive, greener, and self-sustaining agricultural sector.

Slots for the seminar are limited, so interested individuals are encouraged to register early by filling out the online form at:

The DA-BPI regularly conducts training and educational programs to strengthen the capabilities of farmers and agri-workers, especially those from rural areas and small communities.

This initiative supports the government’s broader campaign to empower the agriculture sector through capacity-building, technical support, and better access to legal and safe planting materials.

For farmers dreaming of growth, and for Filipinos looking to plant seeds for a better tomorrow, this seminar could be the perfect place to start.
