The Philippines joins this global mission through its growing space program. Our very own microsatellites, Diwata-1 and Diwata-2, have been launched to monitor Earth’s health. These satellites help watch over our forests, oceans, and communities by providing important data on environmental changes and natural disasters.
Filipino scientists and engineers designed and built these satellites, proving that the country has the skills and technology to contribute to global efforts. With these tools in space, we also have the power to find better solutions here on the ground to protect our natural resources.
As we observe World Space Week from October 4 to 10, it is a reminder that whether we look at Earth from orbit or from where we stand, our goal remains clear: to take care of our planet. Protecting our environment is not just a job for scientists but a shared responsibility for all Filipinos.
Through science and unity, we can safeguard the land, water, and air that sustain us. The story of Diwata-1 and Diwata-2 inspires hope that with innovation and cooperation, the Philippines can help build a safer, healthier Earth for future generations.
