Under the warm Cebu sun, agency leaders gather to examine progress, identify challenges, and plan improvements that could directly affect thousands of Filipino fiber farmers. This week, the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) is conducting its 7th Management Review from November 23 to 27, 2025, in Cebu City.
The event brings together PhilFIDA’s top officials, including Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, OIC-Deputy Executive Director Ramil B. Barcelona, Regional Directors, Division Chiefs, and Section Heads. Their goal is to assess the agency’s performance, review accomplishments, and refine strategies to better serve fiber-growing communities across the country.
During his keynote speech, Executive Director Atienza highlighted the importance of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration. “To strengthen the fiber sector, we must ensure that our programs are responsive, efficient, and aligned with the real needs of our farmers,” he said.
Over the week, participants are reviewing operational systems, checking resource adequacy, and identifying gaps that could affect service delivery. The discussions aim to improve the competitiveness and resilience of the country’s natural fiber industry while supporting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers who grow abaca, cotton, and other fibers.
PhilFIDA’s management review serves as a platform for strategic decision-making, helping the agency prioritize initiatives that enhance productivity, promote sustainable practices, and expand market opportunities for Filipino fiber farmers. The review also reinforces the agency’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that regional and local concerns are considered in national programs.
By focusing on system improvements and stronger coordination, PhilFIDA seeks to uplift the fiber industry as a whole—benefiting farmers, communities, and the broader economy. The event underscores the agency’s dedication to innovation, efficiency, and service excellence in the pursuit of a more sustainable and prosperous future for the country’s fiber sector.
