In support of National Women’s Month 2026, the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) joined the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PhilMech) in hosting the event “Women and Everyone (We) Talk: Empowering Voices, Inspiring Change.” The forum brought together voices from different sectors to highlight the role of women in shaping communities and driving progress.
Among the key speakers was PCAF Executive Director Bernadette “BidiBidi” De Los Santos, who shared her personal journey of public service and creative advocacy. She spoke about how combining passion with purpose can create meaningful change, especially in sectors like agriculture where women continue to play a vital but often underrecognized role.
De Los Santos emphasized that women are not only contributors but also leaders in agriculture, fisheries, and rural development. She encouraged participants to use their talents, whether in art, communication, or leadership, to raise awareness and inspire action in their communities. Her message centered on resilience, creativity, and the power of shared voices.
The event is part of the broader National Women’s Month celebration, which promotes gender equality and recognizes the achievements of women across the Philippines. This year’s campaign highlights inclusivity with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” reinforcing the call for equal opportunities regardless of gender.
Organizers said the forum aims to create a safe and open space where participants can exchange ideas, experiences, and solutions. It also seeks to empower more individuals, especially women in rural areas, to take active roles in decision-making and community development.
The agriculture sector remains a key area where women contribute significantly.
