Under the bright lights of the NMIS SHE Hall in Quezon City, staff and partners gathered for a night of recognition and celebration. The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) closed its weeklong celebration of the 32nd Meat Safety Consciousness Week (MSCW) and its 53rd anniversary by honoring the dedication of its working committees.
Dr. Roberto S. Umali, Officer-in-Charge Executive Director, and Dr. Ronnie Ernst A. Duque, Officer-in-Charge Deputy Executive Director, together with Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry Michael J. Garcia, led the acknowledgment of teams whose efforts made the events a success. The Employees’ Night on October 17, 2025, at the MITDC Building in Visayas Avenue, was filled with appreciation, highlighting how collaboration strengthens the agency’s mission.
The NMIS recognized the crucial role of Regional Technical Operation Centers (RTOCs), which coordinated activities across the country. Their work helped raise awareness about safe meat practices, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and supporting the local meat industry.
The weeklong MSCW and anniversary events emphasized the importance of meat safety from farm to table. By honoring both national and regional teams, NMIS highlighted that ensuring safe and high-quality meat requires the dedication of everyone in the supply chain—from inspectors to producers to regulators.
As the ceremony ended, leaders encouraged staff to continue promoting food safety, protecting consumers, and maintaining standards that keep Philippine meat products trusted both locally and internationally. The celebration served not just as a reflection on past achievements, but also as a call to keep raising the bar for meat safety and public health.
