Inside a conference room in Quezon City, officials and industry representatives gathered to discuss a key issue that affects thousands of Filipino farmers: the quality and regulation of agricultural machinery. For many in the countryside, reliable farm equipment can mean higher harvests and lower labor costs.
On February 24, 2026, the National Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery Assemblers, Manufacturers, Importers, Distributors, and Dealers Accreditation and Classification (NAMDAC) Board convened to review updates on its revised guidelines, regulatory coordination, and accreditation matters. The meeting was presided over by Board Chairperson Rodolfo Tamayo and facilitated by the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization and Infrastructure Support Section of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF), which serves as the NAMDAC Secretariat.
During the discussions, Board Member Engr. Crestituto Mangaoang of the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers stressed the importance of synchronizing requirements among Department of Agriculture regulatory agencies. He said harmonizing processes would prevent duplication and ensure that only compliant enterprises are granted accreditation and permits.
The Board approved two resolutions for endorsement to PCAF. These include the inclusion of Excelhigh Industrial Trading Services and All Star Resourcemate Import and Trading OPC in the list of qualified suppliers eligible to participate in the DA’s procurement of agricultural and fisheries machinery and equipment. The renewal of accreditation and updating of the enterprise type of Mechaphil Corporation were also approved.
NAMDAC plays a crucial role in evaluating and accrediting machinery assemblers, manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, and distributors. It classifies these businesses as small, medium, or large enterprises based on their capacity, performance record, scope of operations, marketing systems, after-sales support, and production capability.
By strengthening accreditation standards and regulatory coordination, the Board aims to ensure that farmers and fisherfolk receive quality equipment that meets national standards. Reliable machinery supports productivity, reduces post-harvest losses, and helps modernize Philippine agriculture.
As mechanization continues to shape the future of farming and fisheries, strong oversight remains essential to protect public funds and promote fair competition. With clearer guidelines and improved coordination, stakeholders hope to build a more efficient and transparent system that benefits both suppliers and the country’s food producers.
