In a hotel ballroom in Parañaque City, applause filled the air as leaders from government-owned firms gathered to celebrate good governance. Among those recognized was a familiar name to millions of Filipinos—LANDBANK—an institution long tied to farmers, workers, and small businesses across the country.

LANDBANK of the Philippines was named one of the top awardees at the 2025 Governance Commission for GOCCs Awards Ceremony held on December 1, 2025, at the Sequoia Hotel in Parañaque City. The recognition highlights the bank’s strong performance in governance, transparency, and accountability under the government’s strict evaluation system.

The awards were given under the Performance Evaluation System and the Corporate Governance Scorecard, two major tools used by the Governance Commission for GOCCs to measure how well state-owned firms serve the public. These systems look at leadership, financial discipline, service quality, and compliance with laws and policies.

LANDBANK President and Chief Executive Officer Lynette V. Ortiz received the awards on behalf of the bank. She said the recognition reflects the hard work of LANDBANK employees nationwide who continue to deliver services while upholding integrity and good management.

The ceremony was led by GCG Chairperson Atty. Marius P. Corpus and GCG Commissioner Atty. Geraldine Marie B. Berberabe-Martinez. Also present were Finance Undersecretary Rolando G. Tungpalan and former Senate President Franklin M. Drilon, the principal author of the GOCC Governance Act of 2011. The law was created to ensure that government-owned firms operate efficiently and responsibly for the benefit of the Filipino people.

LANDBANK’s recognition comes at a time when public trust in institutions is more important than ever. As a government-owned bank, LANDBANK plays a major role in financing agriculture, fisheries, local governments, and small enterprises. It is also a key partner in delivering social protection programs, including cash aid and salary accounts for public workers.

For farmers and fishers, LANDBANK remains one of the main sources of credit and financial support. Its services help fund planting, harvesting, and small agri-businesses that provide food to Filipino households. Strong governance ensures that these funds are managed properly and reach those who need them most.

The GCG awards aim to encourage GOCCs to go beyond profit and focus on public service. High scores under the Performance Evaluation System mean that an institution meets its targets efficiently. Meanwhile, strong results in the Corporate Governance Scorecard show that a company follows ethical practices, protects stakeholders, and manages risks well.

LANDBANK’s performance reflects years of reforms in systems, digital services, and internal controls. The bank has expanded its reach through online banking while maintaining branches in far-flung areas, helping bring financial services closer to ordinary Filipinos.

Officials said good governance is not just about awards, but about ensuring that public funds are protected and used wisely. For institutions like LANDBANK, this means balancing financial stability with its development mandate.

As the ceremony concluded, the recognition served as a reminder that strong leadership and accountability matter. For millions of Filipinos who rely on LANDBANK for savings, loans, and government services, good governance translates to trust, stability, and continued support for national development.
