In the heart of the farming season, a new celebration takes root—bringing hope, unity, and vision for farmers, fishers, and extension workers across the country.

By virtue of Proclamation No. 753, series of 2024, the Philippines is now officially celebrating the first-ever Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Month this October 2025. With the theme “One Goal, One Extension: Advancing Agriculture and Fisheries for a Food Secure Nation,” the event recognizes the vital role of extension services in supporting local communities and securing the country’s food supply.

The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) joins the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and other government agencies in promoting knowledge-sharing, community empowerment, and modern agricultural practices. This month-long initiative aims to honor the hard work of those helping farmers and fishers gain access to new technology, better practices, and livelihood support.

Extension workers act as bridges between science and the grassroots. They bring essential tools and information to rural areas—from how to improve crop yields to responsibly using inputs like fertilizers and pesticides. Through training and hands-on assistance, they help farming and fishing families improve their income and resilience, especially in the face of climate change and rising production costs.

This newly declared observance is more than symbolic. It reflects the government’s stronger push to invest in extension systems—recognizing them as key to building a more sustainable and food-secure Philippines.

As programs grow and support deepens, Extension Month becomes a chance for local governments, state universities, and farmer cooperatives to connect, share best practices, and showcase innovations that truly make a difference in the field.

Looking ahead, organizers hope this annual event will inspire more youth to take interest in agriculture and fisheries, knowing there is a future in these sectors—and that they won’t face it alone.
