LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — The air was filled with pride and hope as Filipino farmers gathered for the closing of the 4th National PhilGAP Summit held from September 22 to 26, 2025. This event celebrated the hardworking men and women behind every safe and quality harvest across the country.
During the summit’s second plenary session, discussions highlighted the crucial role of institutional buyers in strengthening the market for certified safe produce. These buyers help ensure that farmers’ crops reach consumers who value quality and safety, providing stability to farming communities.
Farmers then shared their inspiring stories of perseverance and success, showing how their dedication contributes to the nation’s food security and agricultural progress. Their voices reflected not only the challenges they face but also the rewards of their labor.
The summit also recognized outstanding farmers through awards for the Top PhilGAP Performers. The GAPTured: PhilGAP Best Photo Contest winners were announced, capturing the spirit and beauty of Philippine agriculture through powerful images.
The event ended on a joyful note with a fellowship night where participants connected through colorful cultural presentations and the lively PhilGAP Got Talent show. Beyond farming skills, attendees showcased their talents in singing and dancing, strengthening camaraderie among the community.
Themed “Bida ang Magsasaka: Pagdiriwang ng Kahusayan sa Bawat Ani, sa Gabay ng PhilGAP,” the summit reaffirmed the vital role of farmers as the true heroes of the agricultural sector. It also emphasized the importance of supporting them to achieve sustainable growth and food security.
As the participants returned home, they carried not just awards and memories but renewed encouragement to continue their essential work for the country’s future.
