During his three-day official visit to the Philippines, Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, met with the Department of Agriculture to discuss ways to strengthen global cooperation on food security and sustainable farming.

In line with this engagement, the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), led by Executive Director Arnold “Ali” I. Atienza, hosted a special exhibit highlighting the country’s abaca industry. The Shelmed Cottage Treasures booth featured a variety of abaca-based products, demonstrating the natural fiber’s versatility and the craftsmanship of Filipino artisans.
