Early Wednesday morning, some bank clients in Ilocos lined up sooner than usual, checking their watches as they prepared to finish their transactions before noon. For customers of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) in two areas, time mattered more on January 14.
DBP announced that its Cabugao and Vigan branches are operating on shortened banking hours on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in observance of their respective local holidays. These two branches are open only from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The advisory was issued to help clients plan their banking activities ahead of time and avoid inconvenience. DBP said the shortened hours apply only to the Cabugao Branch and the Vigan Branch. All other DBP branches, Branch Lite Units (BLUs), and the DBP Financial Center nationwide are open on regular banking hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the same day.
DBP is one of the country’s major government-owned banks, serving farmers, fisherfolk, small businesses, cooperatives, and local government units. Many of its clients rely on face-to-face transactions for loan processing, savings, and other financial services, especially in provinces where digital access may be limited.
Because of this, DBP reminded customers in Cabugao and Vigan to complete their transactions early or visit nearby branches that are open on regular hours. Clients were also encouraged to use DBP’s automated teller machines and other available digital banking services when possible.
The bank emphasized that the temporary schedule change is part of its compliance with local holiday observances, while still ensuring that most branches nationwide remain open to serve the public.
To help customers stay informed, DBP advised the public to check its official channels for the updated list of open branches and ATMs. This is especially important for clients with urgent banking needs, such as loan payments, withdrawals, or fund transfers.
DBP also reminded customers that it is regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, which oversees banks to ensure safe and fair financial services. Clients with feedback, concerns, or complaints may contact DBP’s Customer Experience Management Department from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., through its official customer service channels.
For urgent concerns related to lost ATM cards or other ATM issues, DBP said its hotline services remain available 24 hours a day. These hotlines are intended to provide immediate assistance, especially to clients who rely on ATMs for daily cash needs.
Bank officials noted that public advisories like this are meant to help customers avoid long waits and unnecessary travel. By staying updated on branch schedules, clients can better manage their time and ensure smooth banking transactions.
As more Filipinos continue to depend on banking services for daily living and livelihood, timely information remains key. DBP encouraged its clients to remain alert to announcements, especially during holidays and special schedules, to make banking safer, easier, and more convenient.
