The aroma of fresh mushrooms and homegrown vegetables will soon fill the training room of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) as aspiring farmers and plant enthusiasts gather to learn hands-on cultivation techniques. The Department of Agriculture – BPI is inviting participants to a free seminar on basic mushroom cultivation and indigenous vegetable production this March 9, 2026, in celebration of National Women’s Month.

The face-to-face seminar will be held at the BPI Crop Research and Production Support Division (CRPSD) Mushroom Training Room, located at 692 San Andres Street, Malate, Manila, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attendees will have the chance to learn directly from BPI experts about practical methods to grow mushrooms and native vegetables, including tips on soil preparation, seedling care, and sustainable harvesting.

Registration is on-site and limited to 60 participants. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is encouraged. In line with National Women’s Month, female participants will be given priority in registration, highlighting the agency’s commitment to empowering women in agriculture.

This seminar aims to promote sustainable farming practices while giving participants practical skills to grow nutritious food at home or for small-scale farming ventures. By combining expert instruction with hands-on practice, BPI hopes to inspire more Filipinos to explore mushroom and indigenous vegetable cultivation as a livelihood opportunity or hobby.

The event also provides a space for participants to network, share experiences, and build a community of local growers committed to food security and sustainable agriculture. Through programs like this, DA-BPI continues to support education, innovation, and inclusive opportunities for all aspiring farmers.
