Hundreds of food industry professionals across the Philippines felt the impact of learning last year as the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (DA–BAFS) revealed the results of its 2025 Knowledge Management review.

The report highlights how both webinars and in-person seminars helped participants better understand Philippine National Standards (PNS), which guide food safety, quality, and trade compliance. Many attendees reported that these programs not only increased their knowledge but also made them more confident in applying standards in their work.

Analysis included Facebook engagement metrics, pre- and post-training assessments, and participant feedback. Webinars were praised for their convenience, timely content, and structured approach, while physical seminars were valued for hands-on guidance, interactive discussions, and expert advice.

These findings support DA–BAFS’s shift toward a Progressive Learning Strategy (PLS), which emphasizes active engagement, independent learning, and long-term capacity building. By combining online and face-to-face learning, the bureau aims to make training more accessible, practical, and impactful for stakeholders in agriculture and fisheries.

The insights from the 2025 review will help DA–BAFS continue improving its learning programs, ensuring that standards are understood and implemented effectively. This is critical for supporting safe, high-quality agricultural and fisheries products that meet national and international benchmarks.
