Farmers in Zambales and Laguna got a boost in scientific support as the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) joined the Department of Agriculture’s Lab for All Caravan. The initiative aims to bring practical lab services closer to local communities, helping farmers make better decisions for their crops.
BSWM participated in Subic, Zambales on February 24, 2026, and later in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on March 24, 2026. The agency demonstrated its soil and water test kits, showcased the FertRight Application for precise fertilizer recommendations, and introduced the Mobile Soil Laboratory in Subic. These tools are designed to give farmers easy access to science-based solutions that can improve agricultural productivity and ensure sustainable farming practices.
During the events, BSWM also distributed educational materials to inform farmers about its programs and services. The agency highlighted how proper soil and water management can directly affect crop yields, reduce fertilizer wastage, and protect the environment. By participating in the Lab for All Caravan, BSWM emphasized the Department of Agriculture’s goal of delivering credible, practical, and accessible technologies to farmers at the grassroots level.
Farmers and local officials welcomed the initiative, noting that having lab services closer to their communities saves time and helps them make informed decisions that could increase productivity and income. With science-driven support like this, the Department of Agriculture hopes to empower farmers, enhance food security, and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector across the country.
