The halls of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) came alive on February 12, 2026, as employees gathered for the 96th Anniversary Fellowship Night and Mister and Miss BPI Pageant. Laughter, applause, and cheers filled the room, reflecting both the talent and camaraderie that have long defined the institution.
The event highlighted the agency’s commitment to teamwork, creativity, and agricultural awareness. Employees from different offices showcased their skills in music, dance, and performance, demonstrating not only individual talent but also the collaborative spirit that drives BPI’s mission to support Philippine agriculture.
At the pageant, Ms. Charez P. Arevalo from the Baguio National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center and Mr. Duke Byron C. Castillo of the Crop Pest Management Division were crowned Miss and Mister BPI 2026. In their new roles, they will actively participate in Bureau programs and events throughout the year, representing the values of professionalism, dedication, and public service.
The celebration also featured an inter-office dance competition, where teams presented creative, themed performances. “One BPI Davao,” composed of the Davao NCRDPS Center, NPQSD-Davao, NSQCS-Davao, and SPAL-Davao, took home the trophy. Their victory reflected the power of unity and collaboration across different generations of employees.
BPI’s anniversary not only recognized achievements but also emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging workplace. The celebration underscored the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to encourage youth participation, employee involvement, and teamwork as essential elements in advancing programs for Philippine agriculture.
As the Bureau moves forward, the 96th anniversary serves as a reminder that its greatest strength lies in its people—their creativity, commitment, and shared vision for a more productive and sustainable agricultural sector.
