As the demand for sustainable fish farming continues to grow, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is inviting fish farmers, aquaculture operators, and industry professionals to join a free four-day online training on “Feeds and Feeding Management in Aquaculture” happening on October 28–31, 2025, via Zoom.
The training is part of BFAR’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program, designed to help aquaculture practitioners improve feeding efficiency, reduce production costs, and promote environmentally friendly practices in fish farming.
Participants will learn from leading aquaculture experts who will discuss the latest trends in feed formulation, feeding strategies for different fish species, and innovations in sustainable aquaculture nutrition. The sessions also aim to help participants maximize their yield by transforming proper feed management into higher profits.
In many small and medium aquaculture farms across the country, feed expenses account for up to 60 percent of total production costs. Poor feeding practices often lead to feed wastage, water pollution, and slower fish growth. BFAR’s training hopes to address these issues by introducing cost-saving and eco-friendly methods that benefit both farmers and the environment.
Interested individuals are encouraged to register early through the official link provided by BFAR: https://forms.gle/jtDyVDC1daHaVT2s6. Registration will close once all available slots are filled.
The training is open to aquaculture operators, fishery students, extension workers, and private practitioners who want to enhance their technical skills and comply with professional development requirements.
For inquiries or concerns, participants may contact the BFAR CPD Secretariat through cpd@bfar.da.gov.ph.
Through initiatives like this, BFAR continues to strengthen the capacity of Filipino fish farmers, supporting the Department of Agriculture’s vision of a “Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” where aquaculture remains a vital source of food security and livelihood.
